Thanks to an anonymous reader who pointed out some gross mis-identifications which I've now corrected. Clearly, I have had too much eggnog already!
BTW does anyone know who that is with Arbaaz?


Don 2 premiered in Juhu last night and a few biggies showed up. All the other Khans minus Arbaaz were absent. Noticeably Farah Khan and the Bachchans stayed away and Sr Bachchan who usually tweets about EVERYTHING hasn't said a word about the movie either.

And it has lukewarm reviews. Of course Christmas and New Years will boost sales so Reliance and SRK are laughing all the way to the bank!

DON 2 rides on star power and brand value. The film has a bland first hour, but the second half takes the film to another level. There's no denying that a cohesive script would've made a world of a difference to the film, but the tremendous hype, star power and the lucrative period [Christmas and New Year celebrations] will make its investors reap a harvest.


Komal Nahta gave it a 3.5/5  as well
Don 2 may not give the discerning audience a great high but it will be loved by those who like style, intrigue, suspense and attitude. It will score at the box-office and yield good profits to Reliance Entertainment (worldwide distributors). The producers, of course, have already made a huge profit by selling the worldwide rights and also by getting heavy subsidy from the German government.

Don 2 is a classic action/crime thriller that doesn't let go, even for a moment. More importantly, the plot has been finely crafted, with every twist and turn falling into place like a complicated albeit neat little jigsaw. With a canvas that goes on a cross-country ride -- Thailand, Malaysia, Zurich, Berlin -- the film challenges you to hop aboard its high speed scuttle and attentively follow the exploits of its glamorous gangster.

Arrogance

Vidhu Vinod Chopra - the guy who produced the Munnabhai series and the 3 Idiots blockbuster sat down for an interview. And boy, is he arrogant!! This is the kind of person who is so arrogant that he refuses to see it or acknowledge it. 
On Vidya Balan - 

Hasn't Vidya Balan suddenly become 'the' Vidya Balan? But do you know that I selected her after she had given as many as 31 tests. I kept testing her because I spotted the acting streak in her. I signed her only when she let go of all her inhibitions which I saw in the 31st test where she was literally abusing me under her breath (smiles). Today, I am very proud of her. I have faith in the talent I nurture.
Interestingly he's never spoken of her like before but she becomes the talk of the town now and he wants credit for it.


I remember, once my mom and I were driving in my Maruti towards Mr Bachchan's house to gift him a Phantom (during the days of Eklavya). My mom turned around and said, "You are gifting a Rs 10 lakh car. Why don't you buy it for yourself?' How could I tell her that it was actually worth Rs 4 crore? I am still a man of very simple tastes.
Sure, you just like to talk about the extravagant stuff you can afford to buy and gift

Jodi Breakers first poster

The first poster of Jodi Breakers is out - a very hot Bipasha with a rounder Madhavan. Her dress is doing something weird around her chest area. Madhavan is a good actor but I am going to have to watch a trailer to convinv myself to watch the movie.

A new Agneepath trailer

Dharma uploaded the second trailer of Agneepath and it looks interesting. The background score is fast paced and holds your attention throughout. Sanjay Dutt looks and talks scarier than Voldemort - if you don't know who that is, you seriously live under a rock.
Hrithik is intense, Priyanka is annoying and her looks reminds me of her Kaminey look. And Rishi Kapoor - dare I say it - looks gay.

Ek Main Aur Ek Tu - Title Song

The title track of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu is out for those who are interested. The video goes over the drunk shenanigans of the lead pair (presumably) leading up to their drunken wedding. There is no way though that they could still be walking if they are supposed to be consuming those amounts of alcohol!

Whoopsie!!

Between Farah and Shirish, I always thought of Farah as the sensible one. However, the following snippet from Farah's housewarming party makes me think otherwise. Maybe it was a little too much vino. 


Farah had both Salman and Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the party and seizing an opportunity she took SLB by the hand to Salman and said "Meet your friend". AWKWARD. For those of you who don't remember, he-dwarf made a dig at ex-girlfriend's Guzaarish saying that even dogs didn't go to watch the film. SLB cried a river and the two haven't talked since.


Back to the party - Salman and SLB looked left and right, mumbled something and went 2 separate directions leaving Farah to herself! I am glad Aish wasn't at the party, can you imagine if she tried that $#it with Ash?!?!  It would make for interesting news the next day though!

Farah Khan and the the mister threw a party to celebrate their new swanky 3-floor apartment in Oshiwara. And other than ShahRukhKhan (who was travelling for Don 2 promos) and Gauri (who snubbed Farah's invite) most of Bollywood attended. A few pictures follow -

Rakhi Sawant is extremely upset that Veena Malik has uncovered far craftier methods to stay in the news than Rakhi herself. After comparing her to Saddam Hussain and Gadhafi (no, really!!!), here is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. A few statements - 



Veena is doing all kinds of cheap gimmicks to gain publicity for herself and the show. I can bet she will not marry anyone on it. She is fooling the whole of India, Pakistan and even her own family
Umm, has she forgotten that Rakhi herself made big claims about getting married on the show and then got engaged and thew Elesh aside when she was done with him?


Which self-respecting man will marry a girl who has done a nude photoshoot and is living-in with another man
Maybe someone should call Abhishek Awasthi. Darling, don't you remember him? He was your boyfriend and you lived with him too!! Maybe you didn't do a nude photoshoot (that we know of) but do you not remember that Valentine Day drama when you slapped Abhishek on national TV when he came begging to you to forgive him? How he stuck with you for so long is anybody's guess!

SRK's legal woes (or lack thereof)

Shah Rukh Khan is in a bit of a pickle in Kerala where there is a case against the actor for violating provisions of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986.


SRK inaugrated the Emmanual Silk Showroom in Kochi on Dec 4 and performed his Chammak Challo along with a few skimpily covered foreign dancers.
Some guy got his panties in a twist and went crying to thre police about the indecent representation of women and promptly filed a case against SRK and the partners of the showroom.


Did he watch Ra.One? Did he see the crude jokes in that movie? If he had watched the movie, I am sure he's forget the song and file a lot of cases against SRK and Anubhav for the nonsense there!!
No big deal for SRK though. He's going to have his legal team just whip this one right back at Kerala-guy!

More about the Bollywood Walk of Fame

Last month, UTV announced they were working on a "Bollywood Walk of Fame" similar to its Hollywood counterpart.

Riteish Deshmukh is now somehow involved now and has launched the Legends Walk project for this purpose.
Although he has apparently been involved with this project for 7 months, it is interesting he didn't have anything to say when UTV first started talking about it last month.
Riteish has now obtained the prints of quite a few personalities -  Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, Shatrughan Sinha, Dharamendra, Sadhana, Waheeda Rehman, Vinod Khanna, Zeenat Aman, Asha Bhonsle, Pran, Rishi Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Mithun Chakroborty, Salman Khan and Dilip Kumar. 
SRK, Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt are expected to give theirs shortly.
What happened to Aamir's prints - he is definitely more talented than Salman and srk!!
Legenda Walk will be ready soon with the handprints of the above celebs. I am sure, SRK's and Sr Bachchan's prints will be mauled. 
They should put Salman and SRK's prints next to each other :P

Don 2 flash mob

Microsoft teamed up with the Don 2 team and organized a flash mob in Ambience Mall in Gurgaon - it looks more of a dance routine as opposed to a flash mob - too few participants. Great dancers though! 
And the applause is MUCH better than the response to the flash mob at Mumbai CST. Take a look.

Making up

Priyanka is on a roll mending her burnt bridges! First it was Salman and now its Kareena.
At the BIG awards this past weekend, Priyanka went up to Kareena who was sitting at a table with Madhur and gave her a hug. They exchanged a few fake hellos and Priyanka went back to her seat. Here is a picture (with my edits of course :P)
Not just that, but in an interview recently, Priyanka praised Kareena on her role in Heroine saying - 
Kareena is the perfect choice. She’s such a brilliant actor. As a film-maker, Madhur brings out the best in any actor, and Kareena’s such a superior one.


Hope Kanagana "mutant" Ranaut is paying attention - she could use some help mending her burnt bridges with almost everyone she's worked with!

Heroine re-scheduled

Madhur Bhandarkar really can't catch a break! 
After Aishwarya Rai got knocked up and put Heroine in a lurch, Madhur went back to Kareena and begged her to take the role to prevent his project from being shelved. And as we all know, Kareena got herself a fat paycheck and a share of the profits from the film (at the rate at which production is going, it will be interesting to see just how much the profit is!)
Word on the streets now is that the second schedule of Heroine will now start in mid-Feb instead of end-Feb and end in mid-March so that Kareena can go about her wedding with Saifu darling.
She didn't want to take a break in the middle of shooting so she ordered asked UTV to change the schedule.
Poor Madhur! His film keeps making news even before its shot! Maybe this is karma's way of getting back at him. Somewhere Preeti Jain is laughing her butt off every time a Heroine related delay pops up in the news.
